Laser Eye Surgery (Excimer Laser)
In order to provide permanent treatment of visual disturbances, excimer laser is known as laser eye surgery. Eye disorders such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism can be reset by laser surgery. Anyone over the age of 18 can leave behind their eye defects and glasses with laser eye surgery.
Laser Types
Ilasik, today’s innovative laser technology, is a combination of intralase and wavefront offering customized treatment. Ilasik is a completely personalized treatment and is based on personal opinion quality. Fully computer controlled system, which does not allow any mechanical interference, makes the corneal incision required for lasik with laser with extremely reliable precision without knife. During 10 minutes of surgery, the patient does not feel any pain. The patient may feel sensitivity for only 5-6 hours, but does not close his / her eye and maintains daily life.
Some eyes have optic irregularities such as aberration with refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism. These aberrations can cause night vision and decreased visual acuity. Correction of aberrations with corneal refractive error in this case may result in increased night vision and visual acuity.
In standard laser treatment, a laser correction is performed only based on the patient’s degree of glasses. In the treatment of wavefront, the wavefront device measures the scattering of the corneal layer, lens and nerve layer in detail and draws a 3D map and arranges the treatment scheme. The calculated treatment scheme is transferred to the laser device, thereby providing personalized laser treatment. In the patients who have been treated with the Wavefront system, better vision can be obtained after the treatment compared to standard laser treatment and night vision problems are less.
In classical lasik surgery, the device called microkeratome creates a thin layer called flap in the corneal layer with the help of a metal knife. With the advancing technology, this incision can be done by femtosecond laser (INTRALASE). The quality of the laser cut is higher and the complication rate is less. It is the same as classical lasik surgery after the laser incision phase of the treatment.
Since thinner flaps can be created more safely with intralase, some patients cannot be treated with intralase because of the thin cornea. The entire intralase lasic treatment successfully applied in the Global Dr. Eye is completed in approximately 45 seconds.
